If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. For the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live! Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Rend your heart
and not your garments.
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and abounding in love,
and he relents from sending calamity. Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. I have swept away your offenses like a cloud,
your sins like the morning mist.
Return to me,
for I have redeemed you. I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. “Even now,” declares the Lord,
“return to me with all your heart,
with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” ‘Return to me,’ declares the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will return to you,’ says the Lord Almighty. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. Let the wicked forsake their ways
and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will freely pardon. But if a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.’ But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the Lord. Paul said, “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
