Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love. Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. For we live by faith, not by sight. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” I have chosen the way of faithfulness;
I have set my heart on your laws. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But godliness with contentment is great gain. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. “See, the enemy is puffed up;

but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness.” For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith. See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
